Student Intake Packet
Literacy Volunteers of Kent County (LVKC) is a non-profit organization teaching adults basic literacy and English as a foreign language with volunteer tutors. Since 1980, LVKC has provided free one-on-one tutoring to adults whose low English literacy skills prevent them from functioning effectively in their homes, workplaces, communities, or as citizens of the U.S.
LVKC matches students with tutors to meet on a one-to-one basis at public places such as local library or other public institutions. Tutors will provide help and guidance to students to work toward achieving their goals. LVKC also offers two conversation classes in East Greenwich and online for English Language Learners to practice conversational English skills. Programs are offered free of charge to the students, however, there’s a $20 registration fee to cover the cost of intake assessment materials. Students can request for a fee waiver from the LVKC office.
If you would like to register for a tutor, please complete this form. If you have any questions, please call 401-822-9103.
LVKC does not discriminate on the basis of gender, age, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, or marital or familial status.
