    Assistant Director

    Due to an impending retirement, the Coventry Public Library seeks an Assistant Library Director to start in late November. Coventry is a town of approximately 36,000 residents. The library system, which is a municipal department, is composed of a main library that shares a building with the Coventry Town Hall and a branch, the Greene Library, located in the rural, western portion of town. The staff is comprised of six full-time employees and 25 part-time employees.  

    The Assistant Director assists the Director in planning and implementing policies and procedures of the library, and assumes responsibilities of the Director in his/her absence.

    Candidates must be public service oriented, have excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong knowledge of library technology, social media and library marketing. Individual must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimum supervision, and be capable of supervising staff and volunteers. Ideally, the candidate will also have some experience in programming and collection development.

    SALARY
    $51,590 with full benefits package.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
    • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
