General Nathanael Greene: Savior of the Continental Army

    Join us for this lecture by author Janet Uhlar about Coventry's own Major General Nathanael Greene, presented by the Battle of RI Association, the Nathanael Greene Homestead, and Coventry Public Library.

    Ms. Uhlar’s lecture is General Nathanael Greene: Savior of the Continental Army. An iron-master from Coventry, Nathanael Greene walked away from his Quaker upbringing regarding pacifism to become a private in the Kentish Guards militia unit and ultimately second-in-command of the Continental Army. With no formal military training. He would become known as the strategist of the American Revolution.
