Banned Books Week Book Group Discussion

    Join us for our discussion of Toni Morrison's Nobel Prize winning book The Bluest Eye as we honor Banned Books Week.  To register please email Kiki at kbutler@coventrylibrary.org.  Copies are available at the reference desk for check out.  

    Banned and challenged because it depicts child sexual abuse and was considered sexually explicit.  

    Tells the story of black, eleven-year old Pecola Breedlove. She prays for her eyes to turn blue so that she will be as beautiful and beloved as all the blonde, blue-eyed children in America. In the autumn of 1941, the year the marigolds in the Breedloves' garden do not bloom, Pecola's life changes in painful, devastating ways.
