Welcome to the Graveyard! This 90-minute illustrated virtual tour explores the art, history, and symbolism of cemeteries.

Journey from the colonial burial grounds of New England in the 1600s and 1700s, through the nationwide rural cemetery movement of the 19th century, and into contemporary cemeteries of the 21st century. This program delves into the reasons behind the existence of cemeteries and gravestones, their design evolution, and how styles and art have transformed over nearly 400 years.

The presentation features photographs of historic gravestones and burial grounds from various cemeteries visited by Gravestone Girls over the years, along with intriguing Rhode Island cemetery lore!
