History of Greene Library
The Greene Library was started in 1923 by Miss Mittie Arnold. A two room building was erected in 1929. Miss Arnold, known for her herb gardens, bequeathed $100,000 to the library to be kept in a trust fund to keep the building going. The library was dedicated to her in 1973. It became a branch of the Coventry Public Library in 2010. The Greene Library Association continues to cover the building’s costs and retains ownership of the building. The town provides library services at the site.
